Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that causes abnormal amounts of mucus in the lungs and affects digestion. The mucus filled airways trap in harmful bacteria that can cause serious infections. The average lifespan of a CF patient is 40 years. 1 in 25 people are carriers of the disease. There are about 30,000 CF patients in the US. Daily activities for people with Cystic Fibrosis are limited due to therapy and long hospital stays.
